Taliban warns US over Afghan war



A senior Taliban commander has warned the United States that it will be defeated in Afghanistan, even if it sends an extra 200,000 US troops.

Located in the so-called valley of death near the border with Pakistan, Taliban fighters vowed to fight to the very end.

However, the movement will not just be battling foreign forces as the Afghan government, with help from US and Nato forces, moves to equip and train tribal fighters.

11 Taliban killed in Malakand, Bajaur, Khyber

KHAR: At least 11 Taliban were killed in Malakand division, Bajaur and Khyber agencies on Wednesday, as security forces continued clearance and consolidation exercises in Operation Rah-e-Nijat in the South Waziristan Agency.

Two Taliban were killed and another two injured as the forces continued targeting terrorists in Bajaur, officials said. Political administration officials told Daily Times that the two Taliban were killed in mortar shelling by the forces in Kharkai, Ingah and Almazo Gatki areas of Mamond and Nawagai tehsils.

Officials said body of a Taliban terrorist was found at Loyesyam, while unidentified armed men killed another Taliban at Khar.

In Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency, two terrorists were killed on Wednesday, officials said. Frontier Corps sources told Daily Times that the two terrorists were killed during the ongoing operation in Bara.

The security forces also demolished eight houses belonging to terrorists in the area.

Meanwhile in Waziristan, the forces cleared terrorist compounds at Ziarat and Dunai Killi and seized a large cache of arms from the Jandola sector during the operation Rah-e-Nijat, APP reported.

In Malakand’s Palai area, the security forces killed five Taliban during a search operation while bodies of two Taliban were also found at a roadside in Matta, one of them of a key Taliban commander named Shah Jee. staff report/app
